Zanda (Power Diary) alternative for UK therapists

Zanda, which used to be called Power Diary, packs a lot into its £15 Starter plan. Here is how it compares with NoteSono for a UK talking therapist, including where Zanda comes out ahead.

    The short answer

Choose Zanda if you want a broad practice system on a budget: client portal, e-signed forms, two-way SMS, session packs and Xero, from £15 a month. Its built-in AI scribe is limited to 4 sessions per practitioner a month unless you add AI Pro at £19.

Choose NoteSono if notes are the job you want taken off your plate. Every paid plan includes unlimited AI notes in 20 therapy formats, plus CORE-10, PHQ-9 and GAD-7, from £14.99 a month, with a free plan to start.

    Where Zanda is better

For a single practitioner, Zanda gives you a lot of practice-management machinery for the money. NoteSono does not yet match it on these:

    • Client portal. Clients can book, cancel within your notice window, pay invoices, complete forms and download documents.
    • E-signatures on forms and consent documents.
    • Two-way SMS at £0.09 a message, with free replies.
    • Payments. Deposits at booking, stored cards and session packs.
    • Xero integration and automated reminders for unpaid invoices.
    • Note history. Previous versions of a note can be restored for 30 days.
    • Certification. Zanda publishes an ISO 27001 certificate and a data processing agreement with UK transfer wording.

Zanda also offers a 12-month money-back guarantee, which is unusual.

Where NoteSono is better for talking therapists

AI notes without a monthly cap

Zanda's included AI covers 4 scribe sessions per practitioner per month. A therapist seeing 15 clients a week would need AI Pro, which adds £19 a month per user. NoteSono's paid plans include unlimited AI notes.

    No recording needed

Zanda's scribe records the session. Some clients will not consent to being recorded, and some therapists do not want to ask. NoteSono works from the summary you give after the client has left, so nothing in the room is recorded.

Therapy formats and measures ready to use

Zanda's feature pages mention SOAP only in testimonials and do not name DAP or BIRP. Its scored assessments are generic forms you build. NoteSono comes with 20 therapy formats and scores CORE-10, PHQ-9 and GAD-7 for you, with charts on the client record.

Built for one kind of practice

Zanda serves many professions, so menus and settings cover physiotherapy, dietetics and more. NoteSono's screens, wording and templates are written for counselling and psychotherapy.

    Which one should you choose?

    Zanda suits you if

    • you want clients to self-serve through a portal
    • text reminders and stored cards matter more to you than note writing
    • you use Xero
    • you see few enough clients that 4 AI sessions a month is plenty, or you prefer to write notes yourself

    NoteSono suits you if

    • notes are what keep you working in the evenings
    • you or your clients would rather not record sessions
    • you want UK therapy outcome measures without setting them up
    • you want to start free and only pay once it is saving you time

    Common questions

Is Zanda the same as Power Diary?

Yes. Power Diary rebranded as Zanda. Some review sites still list it under the old name.

How many AI notes does Zanda include?

Zanda's AI Core, included in its plans, covers 4 AI scribe sessions per practitioner per month. Unlimited scribing needs AI Pro, listed at £19 per user per month in October 2026.

Does Zanda host data in the UK?

Zanda's security page says data is hosted in the UK in line with UK GDPR. Its sub-processor list describes its AWS hosting as multi-region, selected by the customer. NoteSono stores data in the EU.

Does Zanda have a mobile app?

Not a native one, as of October 2026. Zanda works in a mobile browser. NoteSono is an installable web app that works the same way on phones.

    Can NoteSono replace Zanda completely?

Not for everyone yet. NoteSono has no client portal, e-signatures, SMS or Xero integration. If you rely on those, keep Zanda for admin and consider NoteSono for notes only.
