AI therapy notes for BACP members
in private practice
NoteSono was built for UK private practice, with BACP's Ethical Framework in mind — ICO registered, with a client consent template included. Write SOAP, DAP or BIRP notes from a 60-second voice summary.
Free plan, no card needed
Designed around BACP record-keeping guidance
Client consent template included
Ready-to-use consent wording. Add one paragraph to your contract so clients know how their notes are written.
No client names needed
We ask you to use reference codes rather than names; NoteSono never needs a client's name.
You review every note
AI generates a draft. You review, amend, and approve it before saving. Clinical responsibility remains entirely with you.
ICO registered
ICO Registration: ZC045529. Your notes are stored in the EU. Some AI processing uses providers outside the UK and EU under data processing terms that exclude training on your data.
We don't keep your recording
Your voice summary is turned into text and we don't keep the audio. Your notes aren't used to train AI models.
Secure clinical records
Encrypted storage, optional two-factor sign-in, export of your notes and clients, and account deletion. You own your data.
Why HIPAA isn't the same as UK GDPR
Several well-known tools were built for the US market first, around HIPAA, the American healthcare data regulation. HIPAA and UK GDPR are different laws, so check each tool's GDPR position and data location.
As a BACP-registered therapist in private practice in the UK, you need a tool that supports your duties under UK GDPR, is registered with the ICO, and fits BACP's Ethical Framework — not American insurance billing requirements.
NoteSono was built in the UK for UK private practice. Notes stored in the EU.
How it works
Speak a 60-second summary
After your session, record a brief clinical summary using your phone or browser. No template, no forms — just speak naturally.
AI formats the note
NoteSono transcribes your summary and formats it into SOAP, DAP, BIRP, Narrative, Intake or any of 20 formats — whichever you use.
Review, complete, export
Review the AI-generated draft, make any changes, mark it as complete, and export as a branded PDF with your accreditation details.
Common questions from BACP members
Should I tell clients I use NoteSono?
Yes. Being open with clients fits BACP's Ethical Framework, and your privacy notice must explain how notes are processed. NoteSono includes a ready-to-use consent template: one paragraph for your contract explaining that you use an AI tool to help write notes after the session, that no session is recorded, that you use reference codes rather than names, and where data is stored and processed.
What does NoteSono actually send to the AI?
Only your post-session summary — spoken or typed by you, in clinical language, after the client has left. No session audio. We ask you to use reference codes rather than names; NoteSono never needs a client's name. The AI receives a clinical summary like "Client presented with elevated anxiety linked to work pressures..."
What if a client would rather I didn't use AI?
Respect their preference. You can still use NoteSono for that client by writing notes section by section yourself, which sends nothing to the AI. The consent template makes the conversation straightforward, and clients can change their mind at any time.
Is NoteSono suitable for therapists registered with UKCP, NCPS or COSCA?
Yes. NoteSono is built for UK private practice whichever body you belong to. None of these bodies approves software, so check your own body's current guidance on records and confidentiality.
